About your host, Sam

As one of the founders of the London Bee Company, I am passionate about bees and all the amazing things they do and produce. As a result, a lot of my time, work and energy is devoted to the welfare of our bees. I also work with over 300 beekeepers in East Africa (Kenya, South Sudan, Congo, Uganda, Tanzania) helping them develop their beekeeping income through value added product and market access as well as providing training on low cost beeswax production.

We have consistently earned 2* and 3* Great Taste Awards over the last three years for our honey.

More than an introduction

Yesterday I attended the "One Day Bee Keeping" course, it was exactly what I hoped it would be and has armed me with all the information I need to start beekeeping.
The two members of staff that answered all our questions knowledgeably, and were both helpful and entertaining, making the day, one that I will remember for a very long time.
I did not know just how big the London Honey Company is, but with hives all over the country they certainly know what they are talking about.
My retirement in years to come now has a purpose!

Excellent course! Leaves you with a buzz for bees!

Could not fault this course, Sameer the course instructor knew his stuff and had the knowledge and passion for bees and beekeeping as a whole! From start to finish, it gave myself and partner a great insight into the world of beekeeping with the theory to start off the day, honey tasting then finishing off with a practical look at working hives. We both left with the knowledge and buzz needed to set up our own hive. Would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good day out or to start beekeeping!

Fun and fact packed course - as good as it gets

Firstly I give very honest reviews, so for me to give a 5 out of 5 is unusual. This course was excellent from beginning to end. Although at almost £50 per person it could be considered a bit steep, at the end of the afternoon I would say that it was good value for money. As well as the classroom course, a bite to eat and handling the actual bees you go away with a jar of their honey which is about £8 and a few little trinkets meaning you are only lying about £35 for the course. It’s a small group of about 9 people and you have plenty of time to ask as many questions as you want, he goes at your pace and everyone else on my course seemed to love it too. Samir is the company founder and key to the course, he is the real deal. He has governmental and community experience of beekeeping and has a real passion for it, he’s not in it for the money, if he isn’t doing the course, don’t sign up. You take in a lot of information but it’s all fascinating and relevant and you are so engrossed that you remember nearly all of it. The classroom part is so interesting that the handling of the bees is a slight anti-climax as I went on the course as I had a phobia of bees. All in all a great and worthwhile use of 3 hours.
